Paint, cut, and collage with us to create your own Matisse inspired artwork! We will paint bold, colorful shapes on paper using expressive marks and brushstrokes. Then, cut out those shapes and collage them onto canvas to create our final composition.

Matisse pioneered a technique known as the cut-out. He would use scissors to cut shapes out of painted paper and then arrange and glue them onto a larger surface. Matisse’s technique and composition together produced artworks that celebrated color, form, and expressive brushwork. His works exuded a sense of beauty, simplicity, and joy.
